Frequently Asked Questions

Q) How does car shipping work?

A) There are many different forms of car shipping. The most common and convenient method is called ‘door-to-door’ transport, in which the vehicle is picked up from the owners home or preferred location, and then delivered to the destination of their choosing. The second style of car shipping is known as ‘Terminal Transport’ and involves the vehicle being dropped off by the owner at one of the shipping companies transport terminals for shipment. The vehicle is then shipped to another terminal which is near the final destination, where it will wait to be picked up by its owner.

Q) How is my vehicle transported?

A) Transporting your vehicle is done in one of two ways. The first and most popular method is known as ‘enclosed transport’, which uses a fully enclosed transport trailer to carry vehicles. The reason this method is so popular is that it protects the vehicle from the natural elements such as dirt, debris, and hail.

The second method is known as ‘open-air transport’. This form of transport uses a transport trailer with no siding or top cover. While it is true that this leaves your vehicle slightly more vulnerable to the elements, the likelihood of damage is still quite low. Also, a benefit to type of transport is that it typically costs less than enclosed transport. When reviewing your options, it is always best to contact the shipping company and ask for their recommendation.

Q) When’s the best time to schedule my vehicle shipment?

A) As with almost anything in life, the earlier, the better. When booking your car shipping services, the earlier you’re able to do so will end up saving you stress and money. When you book in advance, prices are generally much lower due to the availability of spots per trailer. However, the closer you wait, there are fewer spots available and it becomes more difficult to fit your shipment into the schedule, which ends up costing you more in the end. Also, having to look around last minute for a car shipping company can be a real hassle, so why wait? Get started today!

Q) How can I avoid a scam?

A) With the incredible number of car shipping companies that are available on the internet, it can be sometimes be difficult to tell which one’s are trustworthy and which ones aren’t. Certain sites are set up simply as scam sites that will take your money and run. The way it works is when a customer books a shipment with one of these companies, they are asked for a down payment. This payment is usually requested in some form of money order such as Western Union. Any legitimate company should only request payment through credit card, check, or PayPal. With these scam sites however, once your payment is received, the company will never be heard from again, nor will you be able to get in contact with them.

To avoid these types of situations, be sure to some research on any company that you are considering using for your shipment.  A great way to see how a company truly operates is by checking reviews from former customers. Use a simple Google search query with using the ‘company name’ plus ‘reviews’ as your keywords and you should be able to find what you’re looking for. You should also establish contact via phone to be sure that the company is easy to communicate and that you feel comfortable with them. Dealing with a company that is hard to deal with can be a very stressful thing.
